Welcome to the website of The First Baptist Church of Medford MA. It is our hope that this site will enhance our ability to be agents of God’s love, mercy, and grace in the city of Medford and throughout the world. We hope, too, that the site will effectively promote this vital spiritual community.

We invite you to discover and share in this vital spiritual community. Its richness and strength springs naturally from its diversity. Among our members, we have folks from many branches of the Christian, and even non-Christian, heritage. In addition to the diversity of its spiritual heritages, the church is a multi-national community. Nomenclature and other “pigeon-holing” systems are not helpful means of identity for this, or any, diverse and vital spiritual community. It may be said of us that we do take the life of faith seriously, but that we do not take ourselves too seriously.

Worship with us. Participation in worship enriches, and at the same time is a most useful time and place to discover the dynamics of a community of faith. It is in worship amongst the community of faith that the process of spiritual formation is enhanced.

Historically speaking, First Baptist Church was formally founded in 1841. Its actual origins predate this event by over 20 years. The church is related to the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts and the American Baptist Churches USA.

Holy Communion. We customarily celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month and on a number of other special occasions during the year. Our Deacons provide home communion to any who desire to participate but are unable to attend church.
